EDM Final Reflection
What a semester! I cannot believe
it is over. I have so enjoyed this semester and this class. I am taking
away many new collaborative tools to use in my classroom. One of those tools
that I want to implement in my classroom next year is a classroom blog. I would
love to set up a classroom blog to share information, lessons, extra practice,
pictures and videos to my parents and students. I love a blog because it gives
the parents an opportunity to go back and look at previous blog post and to
comment. They even have the opportunity to share the blog with family members
if wanted. I also want to enhance my students digital literacy by providing tools
and applications for them to use in the classroom. Besides implementing the
classroom blog, I want to implement socrative more for assessment tools. I have
used it before and love how it grades it for you and provides a data analysis
for you. As an educator, it is important for us to reflect on data because it helps
us better ourselves by looking at where gaps need to filled. Another take away
tool that I plan to implement more are online interactive lessons. I believe
that by providing interactive lesson using nearpod, it engages the students
more. When students are engaged then they are able to retain more information and
scores are higher.
This brings me to my favorite
project that we completed in this class. We did a lot of projects that I really
enjoyed. I enjoyed exploring video tools. I really enjoyed the screen o cast
tool. I do plan on using this more for my classroom blog. This tools is great
to use to explain concepts to parents because you can show them on your screen
as well. My favorite project would have to be the last project we completed
which was the PDP (professional development plan). I found this very beneficial
because I am such a planner. I enjoyed sitting down and planning the next three
years and how I plan to implement technology in my classroom. It helped me plan
the steps I was going to take to make it happen. This was a wonderful project
that I do plan to implement.
My big takeaways from the class is
that educators are the tools to teach students digital literacy and that we
must become digital literate before attempting to make our students. We do this
by providing equal opportunity for all students to use technology. We model
programs, apps, and other tools that we require students to use. We need to
infuse our classroom with digital literacy. I am also taking away a sense of
pride because I have gained much new knowledge of technology tools to use in my
classroom. I enjoyed practicing them in the classroom and become familiar with
it before using it in a classroom setting. Lastly, I am taking away a new found
vocabulary and love for technology. I truly have learned so many new tools to
use in the classroom.
