EDM Final Reflection

What a semester! I cannot believe it is over. I have so enjoyed this semester and this class. I am taking away many new collaborative tools to use in my classroom. One of those tools that I want to implement in my classroom next year is a classroom blog. I would love to set up a classroom blog to share information, lessons, extra practice, pictures and videos to my parents and students. I love a blog because it gives the parents an opportunity to go back and look at previous blog post and to comment. They even have the opportunity to share the blog with family members if wanted. I also want to enhance my students digital literacy by providing tools and applications for them to use in the classroom. Besides implementing the classroom blog, I want to implement socrative more for assessment tools. I have used it before and love how it grades it for you and provides a data analysis for you. As an educator, it is important for us to reflect on data because it helps us better ourselves by

Audio File

Link to Audio File This week's task was one of my favorite. I am actually using it to send to my parents. It was really easy to make. We are studying division using area model. Parents tend to lean more towards standard algorithm and not teaching them conceptually. This link explains how we teach them conceptually. I have experienced that when showing parents how we do things, they tend to understand a little more. I do plan on using this more for communication to parents. I had a hard time downloading this link. I ended up posting it to my drive and then sharing the link.

Assessments

I loved looking through all of the different assessment tools. I have used quite a few of them before, but I enjoy looking into the ones that I never heard of. I decided to create an exit ticket that I can use in my classroom this week. I created a socrative exit ticket and formative. I did not put an entire math assessment on this because we give paper copies of our test per school administration. I have used socrative before for science but never math. I have never used formative but wanted to look more into since it was a great tool for math. I enjoy both. I love the quick responses and the data that is tracked (less work for teachers, yay!) Here are my links for my two exit tickets. (I hope these work) This is the one problem I have encountered this week. I can not seem to figure out how to share the assessments. Nearpod

I so enjoyed this activity. I have used nearpod before but have never created one. I thought it would be harder than it was. It was very easy. I actually plan to use more nearpods. I found out that you can also edit one created already. This is a wonderful resource for teachers.

Edm 510 Video

This weeks project was a little challenging for me. I had to research what some of the requirements were. I have not used iMovie since I was in undergrad. It took me a while to get familiar with it again. I do enjoy doing projects like this. I would love to do something like this with my students but I do know I need more practice with it before I ask my students to do it. I hope you all enjoy learning a few little facts about me.

My Web Research

I chose to post my web research on a padlet. I have seen many educators use padlet and I wanted to give it a try. It is very user friendly. I LOVE it and I plan on using this in my classroom. I would to use this for parents. This would be a great place for students to share work and for me to share things to parents. I did not have many challenges using padlet. I thought it was more difficult than what I experienced. I can not wait to see what everyone else used. I love getting new ideas for my classroom.

Learning Theory Matrix

Image
Image of Kayla Cooper's Learning Theory Matrix This weeks activity required me to not only learn what a matrix was but to refresh up on blogging. It has been quite a while since I have blogged. While I was creating this matrix I used the resources that Dr. Gaston recommended. I also found this website helpful when I was researching connectivism. (  https://www.learning-theories.com/connectivism-siemens-downes.html  ) While I was creating this matrix, I was finding examples of technology that could be used in my classroom as a fourth grade teacher. Each app and website that I mentioned is something that I have implemented in my classroom or plan on implementing. Also, while I was creating this matrix I found it a little difficult to put a description into one sentence for each theory. I feel as it takes a little more than one sentence to describe the theory. All in all, I enjoyed creating this matrix and found it very useful for my classroom now.
